JAMES Anne Marie James of Brooks, Alberta, passed away in Brooks on Friday, July 24th, 2026 at the age of 82 years. Anne was born on September 12th, 1943, in Medicine Hat, Alberta to Joseph and Mary Anderson. She grew up in Alderson, Suffield then Tilley, Alberta, where she graduated from high school in 1961. Anne married Gary James in 1964, following the birth of their second daughter the family moved overseas to Dubai, then to Singapore, and the United Kingdom for Gary’s career. Anne and the girls moved Calgary in 1973 and to Brooks in 1984. Anne worked for Scotiabank in Calgary, then worked in the restaurant business in the 1990s. She ran her own day home, where she was able to take care of her grandsons, while serving the community. Anne enjoyed the stock car racing circuit, especially the dirt track where she supported her grandson. She was a huge NASCAR fan, a fan of many other sports, she also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cross stitch. Anne loved animals and gardening. She will be fondly remembered for her love of cooking and baking, family get togethers always included good food, full bellies and great visits. Anne was predeceased by her parents Mary and Joe Anderson. She will be fondly remembered by her daughters Rhonda James and Lavonne James-Wise (Warren); grandsons, Dallen Visser (Paige) of Lacombe, Deven Visser (Kris) of Brooks, Dale Visser (Raven) of Calgary and Donaven Visser of Brooks; great grandchildren, Koah, Brealyn, and Caleb Visser; sisters, Violet (Russel) Watson of Chilliwack, B.C, Gladys (Gary) Marcial of Calgary and Betty Anderson of Medicine Hat and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Brooks Health Centre Unit A for the wonderful care they provided for Anne. In keeping with Anne’s wishes a small family service will be held at a later date. In memory of Anne, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Brooks Animal Protection Society, Box 86, Brooks, Alberta T1R 1B2.
