DALE SCHAFFER March 5, 1962 August 14, 2026
The family of Dale Robert Schaffer are saddened to announce his peaceful passing on Friday, August 14 at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital ICU following a life-long battle with Crohn’s Disease.
Born on March 5, 1962, to parents, Harvey (2015) and Audrey (2021), Dale will be greatly missed by his siblings, Darrell (Ruth), Sandra (Terry Goldade) and Brian (Ericka). He will be fondly remembered by sister-in-law, Ann (Bill) Ferguson; nieces and nephews, Nicole (Doug Hadley), Trevor (Katrina) Schaffer, Justin (Carla) Taupert, Brad (Melissa) Schaffer, Malarie Schaffer, Brooke (MacKenzie) Schaffer, Aleigha Yasin; many grandnieces and grandnephews; many cousins, aunts, uncles and so very many caring and supportive friends.
Dale was predeceased by his brother, Terry (2002); nephews, Landon Schaffer (2024) and Reilly Verhoeven (2014).
Dale was proud to tell everyone that it was his entry that was chosen to name the arena in Redcliff the Redcliff Rec-Tangle (1974). He went on to be employed there after high school and worked for the Town of Redcliff Parks and Recreation Department until 1998. Dale then changed careers to Real Estate, being recognized as Rookie of the Year in 1999 with Sutton Group Realty, ending his career with Royal LePage, still closing deals from his hospital bed last month before his surgery.
Dale was a man that thoroughly enjoyed every type of sport throughout his entire life, either as a player, an official or a spectator. Dale also bled orange, a true die-hard Medicine Hat Tiger’s fan and long-time season ticket holder. His love for golf led him to volunteering for a few years at the annual Shaw Charity Classic in Calgary and Dale was a proud long-time member of the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club, having served on the Board and frequently volunteered during events.
Dale was a genuinely good man with a kind heart, and the kind of person you were always happy to see. He touched the hearts of so very many through his work and his support of local teams and charities.
A come and go Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 30 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club (947 Pigeon Street NE).
