Anna “Anne” Mugleston’s earthly journey has come to an end after an amazing 106 years.
Anne was born in Ranfurly, AB, on May 29, 1920, to Mary and John Kitt. She was raised on the family farm in Ranfurly until she left for Edmonton to work as a meal server at the Edmonton General Hospital. She later met the only love of her life and was married on April 7, 1945. Together they built their life and grew their family in Suffield and later in Ralston. Upon the passing of Phillip, Anne moved to Medicine Hat with her two youngest children and attended school to learn how to sew. She would spend the next 14 years as the seamstress at Hutchings and Sharp downtown, until she retired. She had many hobbies in her retirement including knitting, sewing for her grandchildren, bowling, darts, volunteering at many local associations, lawn bowling, as well as being a very active member of the Catholic Women’s League. Her favourite hobby over the past 20 years was running the ‘Wellington Retirement Residence’. Anne is survived by her children, Vickey (Ray) Pacholek and Wayne (Kris) Mugleston; two daughters-in-law, Sue Mugleston and Linda Mugleston; her grandchildren, Tia (Colin), Shayn (Tara), Lannie (Andrea), Dean (Sheri), Christy, Collin (Stacey), Brandon, Alicia (Calvin), Bryden (Brittany) and Tammy (Seth). Anne is also lovingly survived by 20 great grandchildren and one brother, Steve (Annie) Kitt, as well as several nieces and nephews. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Phillip Mugleston, and her sons, Larry Mugleston and Jim Mugleston. The family would like to send the most sincere thanks to ALL the staff at the Wellington for letting Anne run the show for so many years! Also thank you to the staff at Meadow Ridge Seniors Village and the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for all the care in her last days.
