MARLENE GAIL JANOT 1954 ~ 2026 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marlene Gail Janot, who passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, to the late Bill and Mary Fischer, Marlene was raised on the family farm near Hilda and carried the values of hard work, kindness, and family throughout her life. Marlene’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Bill Janot; her daughter, Jody (Anton) Selwood and grandsons, Brody and Rylan; her son, Lane (Jaime) Janot and their children Kyler, Hailey (Colby), Paige (Bryce), Kimber, and Owen, as well as her great-grandson Rhett; her brother, Barry (Gigi); and her sisters, Lori (Glen) and Sheila (Murray); along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her cherished grandson, Jayden, her parents Bill and Mary Fischer, and her brother Wes. Christmas was Marlene’s favorite time of year. She loved decorating her home from top to bottom and bringing family together. She was happiest when surrounded by those she loved and always made sure there was more than enough food for everyone. She also loved Disney and created countless treasured memories with her children and grandchildren. For most of her career, Marlene worked at CIBC, where she built meaningful relationships with customers and coworkers alike. She took pride in helping others and will be remembered for her warm smile, caring nature, and genuine kindness. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff who cared for Marlene, as well as the staff of Sunnyside Care Centre for the love, compassion, and exceptional care they provided. Forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten. A Memorial Service will be held at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1 Dunmore Rd SE, Medicine Hat, AB on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 1:00 pm with Pastor Shane Hein officiating.
