GERALD GORDON BARTH
Posted: October 10th, 2026 GERALD GORDON BARTH
Gerald Gordon Barth, beloved husband of Gayle Barth, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the age of 78 years.
Gerry was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and attended St. Mary’s School, Peacock High School, Saskatchewan Technical Institute, and SAIT. He dedicated more than 30 years of service to the City of Medicine Hat Electric Department, where he worked as a Foreman. In June of 1970, Gerry married the love of his life, Gayle. Together, they shared more than 56 wonderful years of marriage. After spending a few years in Moose Jaw, they made Redcliff and Medicine Hat their home, where they built a life centered on faith, family, and community. Gerry loved sports, especially baseball. While he enjoyed watching the game, he was happiest when playing and was often on three baseball teams at one time. His children and grandchildren have fond memories of cheering him on from the stands. He also enjoyed playing tennis and racquetball. Gerry was the definition of a selfless and caring man. A devoted Christian, his deep faith was evident in the way he lived his life and treated others. He was one of his family’s biggest supporters and could always be found attending sporting events, school activities, and career milestones. It was never difficult to tell when Gerry was in attendance, as he was, without question, the loudest and most enthusiastic cheerleader in the crowd. His sense of humour, though sometimes delightfully predictable, never failed to bring smiles and laughter to those around him. Gerry had a genuine passion for helping others, no matter how big or small the task. He was always willing to lend a hand, offer encouragement, or share his time, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His kindness, unwavering support, and steadfast faith will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Gerry leaves to cherish his memory, his four children, Ronald Barth, Rhonda McKay, Timothy (Kim) Barth and Laura Barth; his four grandchildren, Darin (Jadeyn Votta) McKay, Zander McKay, Brandon Barth and Olivia Barth; his three sisters, Loretta Williams, Carol Watermanuk and Susan Ziegler, and his two brothers, Robert Barth and David Barth. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Lottie Barth; his two brothers, his twin Terrence Barth and Stephen Barth; his son-in-law, Cory McKay, and his brother-in-law, Steve Watermanuk.
The family will gather privately to honour Gerry’s life.
