CAROLYN PENROSE 1945 ~ 2026 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Carolyn Rose Lehr-Penrose on Monday, September 28, 2026, at the age of 80 years. Carolyn was born on December 27, 1945, to Lawrence and Rosa Lehr and grew up on the family farm south of Irvine, Alberta. She was the oldest of three children, with two younger brothers, Larry Lehr, who predeceased her, and Gary Lehr. Growing up on the farm helped shape Carolyn’s lifelong love of family, animals, hard work, and caring for others. Carolyn later moved to Watrous, Saskatchewan, where she spent many cherished years farming with her husband, the late Richard Penrose†. Farming was close to Carolyn’s heart. She especially loved caring for her cows, knowing each one individually and taking great pride in looking after them. Whether it was a beloved pet, a newborn calf, or one of her many cats, Carolyn treated each living creature with patience, tenderness, and genuine affection. There always seemed to be room in Carolyn’s heart for one more. She was the loving mother of Drew, Hugh (Jennifer), and Kyle (Gina) Lehr, and a proud grandmother to Holden, Joel, and Paden Lehr. She treasured watching her children and grandchildren grow and was one of their biggest supporters. Her family will remember her for her enormous heart, her love of farming and animals, her devotion to her family, her enthusiastic support from the sidelines of countless sporting events, and her remarkable ability to remember the name of just about every cow and cat she had ever known. Carolyn was laid to rest with her parents at HILLSIDE CEMETERY. To leave a message of condolence, you may visit www.pattisonfuneralhome.com.
